Understanding the Roulette Table
The Roulette Wheel
Before starting to play a game of online roulette it is important that the player takes a few moments to review the grid and the wheel and familiarize himself with the layout. The roulette wheel is made up of 36 red and black numbers, numbered from 1-36 which are randomly placed around the wheel. There are never two odd or even numbers next to each other and also never two black or two red numbers next to each other. In addition, if the roulette game is on an American wheel there are two pockets of zeros, one is a single zero,"0" and one is a double zero "00". If the game is on a European roulette wheel then there is only a single zero. The zeros are always in green which helps to identify them easily.
The Layout of the Roulette Betting Grid
These numbered pockets are reflected on a betting grid which is shown on your screen next to the wheel. On the grid the numbers 1-36 are arranged in three columns and twelve rows, at the top of these columns are the 0 or 00 which are in green. All the other numbers are in black and red and correspond to the colors that they appear in on the roulette wheel. All of the bets placed on this inside grid are called inside bets. Bets can be placed on single numbers, which pay the highest odds, double numbers also known as a split bet which is on two numbers. There are also street bets which are a row of three numbers. Four numbers in a block, six numbers and so on. These are all known as inside bets as the bets are placed on the inner grid.
Surrounding the inner grid are little squares that allow a player to bet on twelve and eighteen numbers in one go. A player can bet on numbers 1-18, 19-36 on all of the odd or even numbers, on the blacks or reds only. There are also little squares that allow a player to bet on each of the columns of twelve, there is the first twelve, second twelve and third twelve. Logically the more numbers you bet on the lower the odds. All of these bets on multiple numbers from twelve to eighteen are known as outside bets as the bets are placed outside the main grid.
Placing a Bet and the Winning Odds in Roulette
Once the grid is understood the player is ready to place his bet. Initially he needs to choose what his chip size will be, this depends on the casino that he is playing at but is usually anything from $1 up to $20. A player can use multiple chips for the same bet. He chooses his chip size by clicking on the coin size icon on the screen. He is now ready to place his bets, this is done very simple by clicking on the number or numbers that he wants to bet on. If for example he wants to bet on four numbers together then all he has to do is click on the point that connects the four numbers i.e. the middle meeting point of each of the squares that contain the four numbers he is betting on. He can place as many chips as he wants on each bet by just clicking again and if a mistake is made he can also take away the chips or coin by right clicking on his mouse. Players are also allowed to make more than one type of bet per game i.e. they can bet on all odd numbers and one specific number or all red numbers and one column of twelve.
Online Roulette Winning Payouts
The payout for winning bets is usually the same for all online roulette games and it is as follows:
Single bets on one number only, pay out odds of 35:1 so for every dollar bet the player stands to win $36.Two number or split bets pay out 17:1, so for every dollar bet, the player stands to win $18.Street or three number bets pay out 11:1.A four number or square bet pays out 8:1.A six number or line bet pays out 5:1, so for every dollar bet the potential win is $6. A column bet which is a bet on a specific column and is placed by putting the betting chip at the bottom of the column being bet on, pays our 2:1. This is the same payout as a dozen bet which is an outside bet. All of the other outside bets which are the evens, odds, blacks, red numbers, 1-18 known as the low numbers bets and 19-36 known as the high numbers bets pay out 1:1.
Once the player is familiar with the grid, wheel and betting system and has placed his bets then all that remains for him to do is to sit back and watch the ball spin. The player clicks on the Spin button and then he can then sit back, relax and wait for his win to come in. If he does not win on the first spin then he can bet again the same numbers or choose to place different bets by clicking on the clear bets button. Online roulette is quick and easy to understand, and it makes it fun to play roulette at home.
